June 25

Yesterday I hiked up to Songinbong and came back through Anpyeongjeon which is a little bit west of Dodong.  On the road back to Dodong I had a tiny heart attack when a dog started barking at me, and shortly after a little dog started following me and continued to follow me for probably a kilometer or so. Overall a good, tiring day.  My new goal for the end of this trip is to hike up to Songinbong, then to Nari Basin, then back through the old road trekking course then back to Dodong along the coastal trail.  Probably more than 10 miles.

White-backed Woodpecker - it was only a few meters away from me but my camera was having issues and the bird was really quick so this was the best picture I could get

Lilium hansonii (again)

Athyrium sp.

Polystichum sp.

Pleurosoriopsis makinoi

Varied Tit

Thelypteris pozoi

Tiarella polyphylla

Botrychium sp.

Gentiana squarrosa - with just the calyx remaining, I thought this was some rare strange species

Smilax riparia

Phellodendron insulare (maybe) - the trunk was very corky and the leaves are the right shape/arrangement

Rhododendron yedoense

Rhus javanica
